Feeling through business

Marion and I have found that if we go into anything with expectations, we’re doomed. So many times we’ve come away wondering why it was so hard, we didn’t get what we wanted, the sales person was a pain and so on - what was it that we were doing that was messing it all up? And every time it was because we were expecting it to work well for us, we were using our mind to place a picture of expectation on the outcome, which before our Healing, before we wanted to be true to ourselves, used to work for us.

So we would remind ourselves before going to the shops or wherever we wanted to go and what we wanted to do, that it wouldn’t work, that it will fail, that it will be the worst outcome, that we’ll feel bad, submitting to our underlying feelings of powerlessness and not trying to be the controllers using our mind.

So we’d go in accepting and even expecting the worst. Talking about what we imagine would be the worst thing that could happen and bad it will make us feel. Acknowledging that we really wanted it to work for us, but that it probably wouldn’t, so being prepared to feel bad, even wanting to, so we could work with those feelings to uncover yet more truth about ourselves. So it was accepting that deeper within us we expected failure as a reality and not trying to pretend it couldn’t or wasn’t going to happen. Because it was a failure for us with our parents, that is the truth of ourselves, as hard as it is to accept.

And so ofter having brought to light all our worries and fears beforehand, talking about them to each other saying what we were scared of and longing for the truth of why, then going in expecting nothing and the worst, it worked well for us, helping us to see that submitting to our feelings was the right way for us to go. It taking us of our controlling mind patterns, which were really the negative and bad things for us.

So in light of this Graham, I was wondering about whether you could also advise this man to bring out any fears and worries about failing, expressing any doubts and allowing himself to be negative if that’s how he feels about it all, rather than trying to have any positive outcomes in mind. As well as what you said, for him to bring out his anger and frustration, yet not to try and use that to empower himself over his fear and negative bad feelings, then just being himself.

I think the truer we can be to our feelings in any area of life the more enriching it will be for us. The only difficulty is, other people might not like it, so you might have to do it in private or with someone else who does understand and is willing to go along with it.

I like your business idea - how about something like:

Be a Failure - Be Yourself.
The art of Selling without Expectation
Throw being controlling and manipulative out the window - just be true to yourself, true to your feelings.

And then you get your selling manuals and write and do the opposite!


And another business idea: Welcome Death - looking forward to dying.
We’ve all got such fears of it, trying to stop it, scared that it will bring only worse things upon us, when it actually means the end of our suffering and pain and a whole new way of life.
